ILL – Books & Media Request

The Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL) provides current LCSC students, faculty, and staff with access to materials not available at the LCSC Library.

ILL requests are processed Monday – Friday.  Once an ILL request is initiated, Library staff verifies the patron information and selects a loaning library to fulfill the request.  If the patron has fines or overdue materials, the ILL request will not be fulfilled. 

The Library staff uses the OCLC WorldCat system to request an item when it is not available at the Library.  Patrons must complete an ILL form to initiate a request.  Patrons must indicate on the form whether they are willing to pay for the requested item.  Charges from loaning libraries can range from $3 to $20.  The Library will make every effort to obtain an item at low or no cost.  The patron is responsible for all charges once the request is sent via OCLC. 

Articles  ILL – Article Request
- Turnaround time is usually within 1-2 business days.  Articles will be sent to patrons via LCMail.

Books & Media  ILL – Books & Media Request
-  Turnaround time is typically 7-14 business days. 

- Patrons are notified via LCMail when their requested ILL items are ready for pickup.  Items will remain on the ILL pick-up shelf for 10 days.  Patrons must present their WarriorOne card to pick up ILL items. 

- Each lending library has its own policies mandating the loan period and renewal availability.  The due date is noted on the bookstrap. Renewals must be requested at least three days before the due date.  Renewals are not granted on overdue materials.

- If an ILL is not returned by the due date, the patron will be charged a late fee of $3 per day/per item.  A hold will be placed on their record in the campus Colleague system.  The hold will remain until all financial obligations have been cleared with the Library.

- The LCSC Library does not process ILL requests for textbooks.
