Education and Kinesiology Scholarships

the 2017-2018 general scholarship application is closed. the 2018-2019 general scholarship application will be available december 1, 2017.

Be sure to first read the submission instructions relating to the version of the General Application you are submitting (paper or online). Only one General Application is required per student. If completing the paper version, be sure to include the checklist indicating the scholarships for which you would like to be considered.

General Applications, paper or online, must be submitted by the March 1 deadline.

All scholarships require a General Application, unless otherwise noted in the scholarship description. For scholarships requiring a separate application, it will be listed below the description.

TO BE ELIGIBLE, STUDENTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING BULLETED SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS.

The Alpha Delta Kappa Annual Scholarship         

Alpha Delta Kappa is an international honorary organization for women educators. 

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a degree in Education
  • Must be a senior
  • Must be accepted into the Teacher Education Program

Elta Moorman Arnold Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Elta Moorman Arnold. Mrs. Arnold was active in education for 50 years, 10 of those years as Superintendent of Schools. She presided over 84 country schools, visiting them all by horse.

  • Pursuing a degree in Education
  • Preference:
    • Students who are from Idaho County

Orval Austin Endowed Scholarship         

The Orval Austin Endowed Scholarship was established by Char Gustafson in memory of Mr. Orval Austin.  Char was a friend of Mr. Austin and knew of his wish to help students through college. Two scholarships will be available.

  • Half-time student, enrolled in 6 or more credits per semester
  • One scholarship will go to a student pursuing a degree in Education
  • One scholarship will go to a student pursuing a degree in Biology with intent to attend veterinarian school
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.

Harry Campbell Estate Endowed Scholarship for Education          

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be accepted into the Teacher Education Program

Margaret Chavez Endowed Scholarship         

Dr. Margaret Chavez, Associate Professor of Education, was dedicated to her students in every course she taught, specifically helping aspiring teachers to develop a passion for teaching literacy. Margaret was recognized nationally as a leader in multicultural education and has been credited with a major role in the establishment of LCSC’s award winning Pathways for Certification and Endorsement Program (PACE), targeting non-traditional students seeking teacher certification. This award was created to honor her contributions to the LCSC Education Division. Two scholarships will be available.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • One scholarship will go to student pursuing a degree in Elementary Education
  • One scholarship will go to a student pursuing a degree in Education with a minor in either Reading or English as a second language or have a focus on diversity issues in the realm of Education
  • Be accepted into the Teacher Education Program
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.

N.I.C.E. Ronald D. Corn Scholarship

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Be an incoming freshman
  • Must answer two discussion topics to be considered
  • Preference:
    • Pursuing a degree in Education

The Marvin DeLuga Memorial Scholarship         

Dr. Marvin DeLuga was a former professor in the Education & Kinesiology Division at LCSC who touched the lives of hundreds of students up until his passing.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Be accepted into the Teacher Education Program
  • Preference:
    • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

The Lawrence and Margaret Duclos Endowed Scholarship         

This scholarship was established in memory of Lawrence and Margaret Duclos who both taught for several years in the Weiser School District.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Must state, using a separate paper, their intent to apply for or be admitted to the Teacher Education Program
  • Preference:
    • Students from Weiser, Idaho or another small Idaho school

The Michael and Phillip Duley Memorial Endowed Scholarship         

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a degree in Education
  • Have a class standing of junior or above

Margaret (Beckman) Fettig Endowed Scholarship

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a degree in Elementary Education
  • Demonstrate financial need as demonstrated by the Financial Aid office

Kenneth R. and Mildred M. Hensley Scholarship         

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a degree in Education or preparing for a career in teaching with a major in History or Physical Education

Herbert Howe Perpetual Scholarship        

The intent of this scholarship is to support aspiring teachers.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Must have completed at least 12 upper division Education credits
  • Be accepted into the Teacher Education Program

Gene and Virginia Leach Memorial Scholarship        

Preference will either be given to a female student pursuing a degree in Education who is entering the Teacher Education Program or to students pursuing a degree in Physical Education. The scholarship shall alternate between the Education and Physical Education majors. In the years in which Physical Education majors are chosen for the scholarship, preference will be given to those who are athletes playing on one of LCSC’s sports teams. This scholarship, when awarded to a Physical Education major, shall be rotated between men's and women's programs, unless the coach of a specific sport does not feel they have an adequate recipient. Awards are not renewable.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office
  • Preference:
    • Female student pursuing a degree in Education who is entering the Teacher Education Program

Military Order of the Purple Heart         

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a degree in Education with a minor in Special Education
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

Francis Ernest Millay/Ruth Stark Millay Memorial Scholarship         

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a degree in Elementary Education
  • Be an Idaho resident
  • Be accepted into the Teacher Education Program
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

The Bob Olson Endowed Scholarship for Mullan High School/Shoshone County Students  

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Preference:
    • Pursuing a degree in Secondary Education
    • Students from Mullan High School or Shoshone County, Idaho

The Aletha Pabst Memorial Endowed Scholarship          

This scholarship was established by the friends of Aletha Pabst in honor of her memory.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • Pursuing a degree in Education
  • Preference:
    • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

The Maxine Arnold Pell Endowed Scholarship          

This scholarship was established in memory of Maxine Arnold Pell. Maxine taught in a number of country schools in Idaho County and tutored World War II veterans so they could fulfill the entrance requirements for college.

  • Pursuing a degree in Education
  • Preference:
    • Students from Idaho County

RENCI Scholarship         

This scholarship was established by the Retired Educators of North Central Idaho. 

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a degree in Education
  • Have a class standing of senior
  • Be a graduate of a high school in the North Central Idaho region (Moscow to Riggins, border to border)
  • Be enrolled in the Teacher Education Program, going into their teaching internship
  • Preference:
    • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

Riddle Family Scholarship

This scholarship was set up to benefit Native American students pursuing an Education degree at Lewis-Clark State College.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Must have acquired 60-90 credits
  • Be within two semesters of applying to the Teacher Education Program
  • Not be in default on federal student loans or grant repayment
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

A separate application is required and is due on or before March 1.

Dr. Milton L. Snyder and Dr. Dolores J. Gibbons Endowed Scholarship         

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a degree in either a Professional-Technical Program or in Education with the intent to have a career in teaching or educational administration
  • Must be from an Idaho public high school
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office
  • Preference:
    • Students who've had substantial involvement with extracurricular activities and the community
    • Extra consideration given to those who've been gainfully employed during their high school years

June Stegner Endowed Scholarship         

This scholarship was created by June Stegner’s children to honor and remember her. It is intended to help student teachers offset the cost of their education while in their internship. 

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a degree in Education
  • Be enrolled in the Teacher Education Program, completing their student teaching internship
  • Preference:
    • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office

LORRAINE TUCK ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Full-time student, enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Pursuing a degree in Education
  • Must have been born in Idaho
