Office Financial Aid -->

Applying for Financial Aid from LCSC

It never hurts to apply for financial aid. You do not need to be accepted at LCSC to begin the financial aid process, but the Office of Financial Aid will not be able to act on your application until we have been notified by the Office of Admission that you have been accepted as a degree seeking student. However, if you complete the FAFSA prior to being accepted, everything will be in place for us to review once your admission status is determined.

To apply for Financial Aid you will need to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Filing for Financial Aid

Step 1: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The only form you will need to complete to apply for all types of Federal Financial Aid is the FAFSA. For more information on the FAFSA, and how to complete the form
click here. You can complete the FAFSA using a paper based form available from your high school guidance office, local college Financial Aid Office or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov .

The FAFSA cannot be turned in before January 1 of the academic year you are entering college. For LCSC to receive your FAFSA results, you will need to include LCSC’s school code: 001621.

There is no deadline for submitting the FAFSA, however LCSC has a March 1 Priority Deadline. The priority deadline is a date determined by the LCSC on which the FAFSA must be received by the Central Processor in order to be considered for certain types of aid. Many of the Student Aid Programs other than the Pell Grant (e.g. work-study and state grants) have only limited funding available. Students who do not meet this deadline will not be considered for these awards. In order to meet the Priority Deadline, your application must be received by the Central Processor no later than March 1. In addition, students must be admitted to LCSC by this date to be considered priority.

Step 2: The Admission Process, make sure you’ve been admitted

Before the Financial Aid Office can review and award your financial aid file you must be admitted as a degree seeking student to LCSC. Make sure to complete the Application for Admission and submit all needed materials for acceptance. Again, to be considered for priority awards, a student must also be admitted to LCSC by March 1. For more information on the Admission process contact the Office of Admission.

Step 3: Complete and submit any additional information required

You may be asked to provide additional information by the Financial Aid Office during the review process. Additional information must be received and verified by the LCSC Financial Aid Office before a student can be awarded. Additional information can include, but is not limited to: federal tax returns, W-2s, or proof of citizenship.

Once these steps are completed the Financial Aid Office will then be able to determine your eligibility for financial aid. When ready, an Award Letter will be mailed to you detailing what types and amounts of aid you are eligible to receive.

Understanding Your Award
